The American Freedom Alliance bemoans the radioactive waste which has spilled into the Japanese water system and hopes that the damage at the Fukushima Daiichi Reactor can be speedily contained. Nevertheless it urges the Obama Administration and other western governments to reject hasty assessments about the safety of nuclear power plants and their long term viability as sources of clean, efficient and safe energy. Nuclear power stands as one of the strongest safeguards against dependence on foreign oil and is the most significant alternative energy source the West possesses. France provides a leading example of this with nearly 80% of its energy provided by nuclear power with reactors which are heavily monitored and protected from the advent of misadventure.

The American Freedom Alliance applauds the formation of a military coalition to enforce a no fly zone impeding the progress of forces loyal to Libyan dictator Moammar Ghaddafi in quashing the Libyan revolt. However AFA must also point out how the failure of the Obama Administration to offer decisive leadership in forming the coalition and fronting the assault has severely compromised American prestige and will affect its ability to deal decisively with an emerging nuclear Iran.
